One thing I didn't talk about earlier, because *gestures*: This Saturday I took Bilbo for her first ever vet check-up. Not only was she basically healthy and now thoroughly vaxxed, I got her into the Transportation Prison of Doom all by myself. She fought it and mewled something awful once I got her in it, then was terrified at the actual vet, but we did it.

Today, I saw her not once but twice loafing in the carrier, which I left out and open after she was released. Maybe I've been forgiven. For such a drama queen and a scaredy-cat, she's actually pretty brave.

My Pip DESPISES going to the vet--it's always a huge battle ending in her covered in her own pee and poo by the time we get to the vet (or if she holds it all in, by the time we get home). *sigh* I therefore don't take her very often, but she's indoor only and not exposed to other cats and their diseases, so I think it's worth it to spare her the trauma. If only home-visiting vets weren't so expensive!

My capture technique is a bit more basic: I snatch up Lidy when she's asleep and have her in before she can wake up completely. This only works if catching her is the first thing I do when getting ready to go out; if I get my shoes or my handbag first, she bails.
