Power's back on for the moment. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Finally able to watch some news videos of the storm, and comparatively we really did luck out. We had a day and a half of steady rain but it drained fast enough it never got as high as your ankles; other people had Katrina levels of standing water. Family throughout the Carolinas have reported in, and they're all safe with varying levels of property damage. Honestly the biggest problem for them seems to be along the lines of getting groceries and prescriptions filled. Valid logistics concerns, but so many are truly displaced or the roads are completely washed out so they're inaccessible. Samaritan's Purse, the evangelical Red Cross-type nonprofit my dad works with, is actually bringing rescue and relief-distribution teams into their own county, which would seem a bit convenient if it wasn't actually necessary.

And on that note I'm done wording for a bit. Power or no power, COVID makes finding the right one hard. Thankful to have just one major life stresser just now, though.

I'm glad your power is back and glad that your family is coping all right with the storm damage. It truly is mind boggling, the extent of the flood damage in North Carolina.
