Mar. 18th, 2025 12:50 pmMy pet insurance finally agreed to pay their share of Bilbo's hospitalization costs. They weren't denying it, just taking a long time to decide on it. Long for me - I was anxious because it was a lot of money, and I was nervous they'd refuse; it was only a few weeks. But they kept promising a decision and then not getting back to me. I may have been obsessing a bit, understandably so but not their fault.
The main thing is I don't have to think about it any more.
Things are going okay, more or less. Sometimes I still think I see her out of the corner of my eye. Sometimes I'm a bit sad. But more and more, life's just what counts as normal these days.
I'll probably start fostering another cat soon, with the goal to adopt if we get on. She's a quiet baby and quite shy, but took a chin scritch like a champ even from a stranger and in a strange place. (That's the volunteer from the adoption group holding her, not me.)

I reread the first Harry Potter book and am working on a reread of the Silmarillion. Those first chapters have always fascinated me. Let's see if I get to the point where I have to break out my notecards, to keep the various elves straight.

I hear you. After Pippin passed (at age 16) I only lasted a month before I was checking online doggie rescues. That surprised me.
LOL, The Silmarillion chapters beginning with "Of Men" make my head whirl. How did even The Professor keep everything straight?

Date: 2025-03-19 11:40 am (UTC)I'm also glad I'm not the only one who can't keep the names straight in the Silm. It honestly has kept me from wanting to really dive into it much more than just surface reading (which I've done at least twice, without anything beyond the Ainulindale and a few other stories most pertinent to LOTR (like Beren and Luthien and Elrond's line). Sorting all the "F" has always been too much of a challenge. LOL
